Pros: Works great
Cons: Only works with Mini-USB cable, not micro USB used on recent BlackBerries

This external charger comes in handy. It seems to recondition the battery after multiple short charges or "top offs". I havent researched whether thats technically feasible, but topping off the battery while the BlackBerry is running doesnt seem to give a full charge. I get a longer lasting charge when I use this external charger to charge a spare battery and then swap between batteries. The only issue with this device is that it use a MiniUSB cable (not included) and not the MicroUSB cable that ships with most Blackberry Curve, Bold, etc.

This product does exactly what I wanted. It connects to your charger to charge a spare battery, and when you connect a USB cable it can also charge your Blackberry at the same time.

Works well, but be aware of adapter

Cons: The plug at the bottom does not work with the Bold 9700. However, I was fortunate to have a standard adaptor and that worked well.

Wrong kind of USB connector

The item is labeled as an external charger for the Bold 9700. I understand that the 9700 and 9780 use the same battery as the 9000. The difference is that the 9000 used a Mini USB connector and the 9700 and 9780 use a Micro USB.

This unit has both a Standard and Mini USB connectors, however it does not have a Micro USB, therefore you cannot use the 9700s charger.

This is an inconvenience as the only way to use it is to use the old Mini USB cable with the laptop, or purchase a separate charger for it.

Otherwise it works fine.

A great little charger however like everyone else the USB cord is an issue in that you do need to be sure you have the mini.
