Review: Protect your BlackBerry 9900/9930 in style with the Case-Mate Tough Case

One of the first things I do when purchasing a new BlackBerry smartphone is pick up a case. So it's no surprise that over the years I've accumulated quite a few. Some I've used, some are dented, and others have not been up to the task of having me as an owner. As Barney Stinson would say, my klutziness is, wait for it, LEGENDARY. People actually take bets on when the next drop will be. Now I own the Seidio ACTIVE case and holster for both my Torch 9800 and Bold 9900 but they have a tendency to lock up your device or be slippery in the hands. That's why after a little bit of searching through the CrackBerry Store I decided to check out the Case-Mate Tough Case and see if could withstand the rigors of daily use.

If you're looking for a case that combines style and functionality and keeps your device intact from accidents and spills then this is for you. This is one of the best cases I've owned (even with the quirks) and keeps up with my active (careless) lifestyle. It's lived to tell the tale without a single scratch or bruise.

Beautiful Case

Cons: Feel

This is a beautiful case and it offers a lot of protection. It was easy to put on & I havent had any of the weird phone problems that I read in other reviews.
This case doesnt work for me because it is slippery, it has grooves to make it easy to grip but I find that it slips while in my hands. I dont feel like I have a good grip on it.
It is also difficult to use the side keys due to the raised edges.
Every case is not for everyone & this one is not for me but love the way it looks.

surprised by the design flaws

While a descent case for the money, Its manufacturing is likely the issue. Having purchased one for both my bb 9930, I am surprised by the slight differences in size. One fits just over the edge and shows off the metal edge of the bold, the other wraps over the device and can hinder its use. I am regularly needing to adjust the larger case because it will keep buttons depressed causing the device to freeze. This one case also occasionally sticks the convenience key down, while the other does not. Overall they are nicely designed cases, just poorly made.

Fits too snug in the case thus causing the phone to do strange things sometimes. Makes trackpad more difficult to use.Otherwise a durable, well built case.
