OtterBOX 1933 BlackBerry 8800 Series Level II Case Review
Reviewed by James Falconer
For day-to-day use the case is wonderful. Solid and sturdy, the unit fits snug and tight in the holster. I never felt uneasy or scared of dropping the unit, in fact I purposely dropped the thing a few times 'just because'. I'm not a big holster user, so I often found myself using the OtterBox sans holster. No problems there either. I just threw the unit in a jacket pocket pants pocket and I was off to the races.

The biggest plus for me was a simple thing. The feel of the rubberized outside shell. It's the perfect non-slip, protective, shock absorbing outer layer. If it's possible for a case to feel 'cozy' in your hand then this case has done it.

Pros:  Best protection, tough, lightweight, easy grip
Cons:  none

I just got my OtterBox for my BlackBerry 8820 yesterday. I have to confess, I was a little bit dubious about having something that seemed to be rather bulky on the page. I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable it was to have the otterbox on my BlackBerry, ease of use, etc. Both men and women comment that its a great case for the BlackBerry and better than some of the other cases out there. On a film set either on locatino or in the studio, its important to have that extra bit of protection. My BB is one piece of equipment that as a producer, I dont have to worry about it.

My only objection is that being that during the times where I am on the edge of my calling area, sometimes the reception to it seems to be just a tiny bit less than it was before with the added layer of protection. Otherise, the phone works the same and I just feel better about my BB being protected.

Pros:  Sturdy, encases 95+ of my BB, hardcore
Cons:  Adds weight and some bulk

Im a college student. Ive gotten better at not-abusing high tech gadgets (R.I.P Razors V3xx I and II, iPod nano 1stGEn, Dell Studio 1535, PSP Phat 1000 I II and III, e-machine 500..you get the idea), but life happens. This case is great. A little bulk, but definately worth it. I dont have to worry about the occcasioal accidental drop or the too common coffee spill in the center console (coffee=Razr killer). Not waterproof, but will buy me the extra 3 sec to pull the phone out and save my sorry self. Its sturdy, comporable to my iPod Nano 4th gen hard case (im going on 18 months of no damage whatsoever to that thing, its a record!), and Im sure Ill get a new phone before this one gets a scratch or breaks from a drop/spill. Definitely worth the money/bulk.

The Otter Box fits my 8830 wonderfully. I feel a lot better having the extra security in case of drops and other mishaps that come with having 6 kids.

Pros:  very durable, easy access to bb
Cons:  ads some bulk to the bb

After going through 3 of the standard Blackberry soft clip cases, breaking the plastic clip each time, I decided it was time to try something different. I chose the OtterBox due to good reviews and other info here. Ive been very happy with the case.

My BB recently took a fall- from over 8 feet high- ONTO CONCRETE!!! It was like slow motion watching it fall as I reach, unsuccessfully, to catch it. It was inside of the plastic holster, I was coming out of my attic on the attic stairs and the BB, which was in its holster and clipped on my blue jeans pocket, caught the stair mechanism and came loose from my pocket.

The Result- the holstered BB hit the concrete on the corner of the holster. The BB was fine with no indication that it ever hit the ground. The holster cracked starting at the impact point on the corner (toward the fron of the corner) and the crack ran up to the top of the front lip. I super-glued it and so far is holding up just fine. I was expecting much destruction from an 8 fall onto concrete but overall the damage was minimal. Im a believer!
