Tons of problems
User: Mike A, Apr 20, 2008
The WEP500 seems great at first, but the fat plastic neck on the earpiece hurts after awhile, and I had a hard time getting it to sit securely in my ear without it being uncomfortable due to the rubber eargels being too firm and not tacky like silicone. These complaints are specific to my ear shape, however there are other issues. The multi-function button is too exposed and light to press and a simple quick tap (or bump) will redial the last number which got to be a huge problem. It would redial in my pocket as well, often after turning itself back on. A recessed and firmer button with a more deliberate redial sequence would easily prevent this. It was very clear and seemed to cancel noise somewhat to my listeners but was far too quiet most of the time at its loudest setting unless I was in a very quiet environment. Battery life was so-so for its size but I found myself having to charge it in my car during the day to keep it useable. Most of these problems are overcome by the Plantronics 665 though it should be louder, the outgoing audio needs better noise cancellation, and the rubber volume buttons are easily torn. Still getting by with it though. At least I can put it in my pocket and not worry about calling people accidentally. Avoid the WEP500 like the plague!
